The UDC team will lead Muni rides from Swainby via Cod Beck (North Yorkshire). The ride is for all ability of Muni riders. The ride starts in Swainby and can pick up riders by the lake.  It then takes you over the broad trails overlooking the Cod Beck reservoir and then up to the Masts with views over Teesside.  Approximately 14 or 8km.

When where:

Meet at Swainby at 10:30 or at Cod Beck Reservoir carpark at 11:15am on Saturday, 18 May 2024

How to get there:

Swainby:  Swainby Highstreet, DL6 3DG

Cod Beck: Car parking is available to the North of Cod Beck Reservoir, DL6 3AL.

What to bring:

• Bring your Muni, ideally 24"+
• Riding gear
• Wet weather clothing
• Food/water/snacks

Coffee and cakes:

Afterwards we will retire to The Rusty Bike in Swainby for cake!

How to get there:

By car: Car parking is available to the North of Cod Beck Reservoir, DL6 3AL.

From the A19 Take the A684 exit towards Northallerton and turn sharp left onto A684 shortly after. Follow the road as it bears left and take the next right onto Clack Lane. Follow this road into the centre of Osmotherley and turn left onto North End. Follow this road for 1.5 miles where the 2 car parks will be on your right just north of Cod Beck Reservoir.

**Event to be Recheduled for January/February**

BMW events are open to unicyclists of all age and skills. They are not formal events, but social events where you can meet up with other unicyclists and ride together.

The Pickwick Bicycle Club is the older cycling club in the world. They organise an annual race for Penny Farthings (ordinary cycles) at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit.

Swedish 3 Day Penny Farthing Race is an event orientated weekend with 4 different races being held over 3 days.

UNICON is the name given to the Unicycle World Championships. Although it is a lot more than that, it is a gathering of 2500 of the top unicyclists from all around the world to celebrate unicycles.

The event is run every two years at a different venues/countries.  It had not happened for 4 years due to the pandemic by the time this years event happened.

 

Elodie got a unicycle for her 11th Birthday in March (2022) and hasn't look back since. She is now going to ride her 20" Leaf Unicycle 13 miles to raise money for local charity St Petrock. Read more about her ride here.

 

The Penny Farthing Club is a UK based group who promote Penny Farthing riding. They were started 10 years ago by Neil Laughton and this year they had a celebration in central London.

The British Juggling Convention is one of the largest events in the world of it's type. There is always a large unicycle contingent to it but this year it will be even bigger! Unicycle Skills are putting together a wide range of unicycle activities.
