Description

The Shadow handle is constructed to offer maximum versatility without any compromise in the performance. The low profile of the base allows even relatively small riders to take advantage of the handle. The base also by-passes the traditional 4 bolt seatpost fitting and utilises the front and rear handle bolts, so giving the saddle and handle an unparalleled rigidity and stiffness. Fits all standard saddles that use bolts, but not those that use studs.

The Shadow handle is supported on top of the latest generation super tough 25.4 BMX style pivotal seatpost but is supplied with a 27.2 shim to allow it to fit on to KH frames. The post interface allows for 4 x 6 degree adjustments via an integral high tensile bolt. The handle comes with 2 T extensions as standard, one straight and one with a 30 degree bend. Both of these are 400mm long so allowing you to trim them to the length you require. Should you wish you also have an option to adjust their length via a clamp by up to 100mm (4″).

These T handles can be fitted either facing up, down or straight depending on your preference.

Excellent value saddle and very well made, with the bonus of being very tough and hard wearing. This was the replacement for another Nimbus saddle which lasted 10 years and this new one looks even more heard wearing. I think this one will outlast me!

As always, arrived within 48 hours of being ordered. Comes with no instructions, but it’s pretty obvious how to fit it together. You need to remove the seat and fit it to the new seat post that comes with the kit. Make sure that you tighten the single bolt well. Do not use threadlock until you are sure that you have chosen the right setting – if at all. I had to use emery paper to take the finish off the bottom inch or two of the seat post, and a small amount of grease, to get it to fit into my Nimbus frame. There is one straight T handle and one bent one. You can angle the bent one up or down, so in total you have three choices of height. After experimentation, I chose the straight handle, which is the “middle” setting. Whichever handle you don’t use can be fitted at the back and makes it easier to wheel the uni, and it can also be used as a stand on a flat level surface. You need to invest a bit of time in trying the different settings, but once you’ve got it how you like it, this kit makes your uni far better for road use and distance. It leaves the front of the seat untouched so you can still use the seat handle when you need tp. My only real problem is that with one of my old seats (a KH Street) the handle was at a noticeable angle off to one side. The problem was the seat, not the handle, but the only cure was to fit a different seat. My KH Freeride seat obviously has the threaded studs in the right palce. Possibly if the handle base had slots rather than round holes, this sort of minor irritation could be avoided. It may be that newer KH seats are built to more accurate tolerances. I’m glad I bought it.
