The Nimbus Nightfox was designed to allow the shorter rider to ride a 36″ unicycle. The legs of the frame are adjustable instead of using a traditional seatpost.

Description

The seatpost and seat tube were redesigned bringing the saddle down to the curve of the frame. The Nightfox frame incorporates the Shadow Handle into the design as well so you can ride as far as you like. This unicycle design allows many different riding choices from riding across the country to riding across town!

The Nightfox now comes with the ability to fit a disc brake. Cable routing on the frame and a hub which will allow you to bolt a disc to it. Plus, the frame legs have a mount to hold your calliper. Making it easy to mount a disc brake of your choice.

Just got this bad boy and my first impression is…wow. This unicycle means serious business. The build is so unique and is like nothing I have seen in unicycles. Let’s talk about the ride experience: The ride is so smooth. It feels sturdy. The only complaint I have is that even when cranking on the bolt that clamps the handlebars, I found that the handlebars were still considerably loose until I went ahead and greased it. Other than that, I have only good things to say. Conclusion: I am incredibly happy with my purchase and I hope I can enjoy this ride for years to come. (Posted on 9/17/2014)

A totally new and innovative concept that makes it possible for shorter riders – even those under 5 feet tall – to now enjoy the world of 36er-ing! And as a rider nearly a foot taller that that, this awesome 36er is the ONE unicycle that comes closest to the adage, “one size fits all”!

At 5’6″ I was a bit concerned I’d have to substantially cut a 36 down to ride. No cutting with the nightfox. I’ve had it for a week and I’ve put about 120 miles on it so far. Seems to go about 10mph consistently. The T-handle is super nice. I definitely recommend a d’brake and spirits for a brake setup. It’s a lot of wheel to stop in a hurry without one.

I have to admit…I’ve just entered my 3rd year of riding, and I wasn’t sure I could handle a 36er. I am an old guy (55), and I live in the Rockies- wasn’t sure I could crank that large wheel up the passes. So I started off with 165 cranks…holy cow, this machine is FAST- and, like the previous reviews stated- STABLE. Mounting is a bit intimidating at first, but once you nail it (on my second or third day)- you want to ride it everywhere! I will probably stick to my 26″ Oracle for the gnarly terrain, but this machine is an aerobic dream- awesome for long distance rides. But who knows what I’ll think after riding this for a few months? The mountains await out the front door… Highly recommended!

The Nimbus Nightfox is a game changer for young children. The minimum inseam requirement is 70cm (27.5”) with 138mm crank arms but I went even shorter with a pair of 127/110mm Spirit cranks. My oldest daughter was tall enough for a Nightfox by her 11th birthday. Her 9 year old brother still too short but does have renewed vigor, seeing her take off, riding his 20” Club around the neighborhood counting the days until he can join us doing serious miles on our local rails-to-trails path. The NIghtfox could (and one might argue should) be moved from the Commuter/Touring section to the Starter Series (Child Large) category in with the 20” unicycles because the smart move is to get your kids riding 36er as soon as they are tall enough for a Nightfox. Yes, a 20” is still useful for learning to mount and short bursts down the street or, like the mostly unrideable 16” that proceeded the 20”, for rocking back and forth in front of the TV. My kids didn’t really “get it” until they tried a 36er that tracks straight without as much side to side wobble. And, once you get up to speed, the momentum of a wheel that big and heavy makes it less tiring to ride. Ask anyone who has just tried a 36er for the first time and they will tell you “It practically rides itself”. That is why so many of us first time Kris Holm/Schlumpf hub owners choose a 36er for our first geared unicycle. It is not until later, after you “get the concept” of shifting and geared riding that you might decide to lace your hub into a smaller wheel. The point is, a 36er is actually much easier to ride. After they get used to a 36er, you can move them back down to the 20” and they will be able to ride it like never before. Now she has commandeered my 26” Oracle and it won’t be long before I finally have a Mountain Unicycle (MUni) riding partner. Take it from a guy who knows. Get your kid a Nightfox. If you are unsure they will be able to master it, set it up for yourself to do some Coker MUni. I opted for the all-steel disc hub and outfitted it with a Vee Rubber “The Todd” tire. If I can ever get these kids off of it, I’m taking it to the woods. (Posted on 9/17/2014)
